On November 27 2009, I was training on Isshu Route 12 with a new friend I caught recently, a timid Zuruggu. Our training will surely count extra this autumn afternoon, with a cold rain relentlessly testing our endurance. Soon after fainting a stubborn Cherrim, I hear a low pitched neigh from behind us, accompanied by a light rumble in the earth. We turn around to look, as it came from behind us, behind a grass-less hill. The first thing we see emerge from behind the hill is a bright blue hue illuminating the wet earth at the hill's crest. Galloping over the hill, the source is some kind of horse - a unique looking Rapidash (ギャロップ). The flames coming from it's mane and hooves were not the usual orange-yellow, but instead piercing shades of blue. Under the dark grey sky, this Rapidash both blended in, and stood out brilliantly. The burning blue fire seemed to be larger, brighter, and more furious than a usual Rapidash - perhaps because it was raining so hard, and Rapidash had to work it's flames overtime when it was raining.
This Fire-type seemed at somewhat of a disadvantage because of the rain, and soon I engaged it in battle with the intent to capture. However, if anything, it proved to be stronger because of the rain - perhaps because of the unique blue nature of it's flames. Normally a wild monster will attack you or run away, but this Rapidash seemed only to be playing. It was certainly strong enough to put up a fight, and could have easily ran away if it wanted to. But this Rapidash somehow enjoyed the rain and wanted to play in it with me.
After a single Hi Jump Kick from Zuruggu, I felt this blue-flamed Rapidash was weak enough to capture. I instinctively grabbed a Poké Ball and threw it - to no avail - the blue Rapidash broke free and quirkily fell over and rolled around in the wet grass, making a steam rise up and engulf it. Then I remembered my stock of Premier Balls I had saved for just a special occasion. I only had to throw two or three until the blue Rapidash finally submitted and the final Ball stopped moving with a click. I immediately high fived my Zuruggu and we did our secret handshake in victory. After such a battle, we decided to go back to the Pokémon Center in Kagome for the night to rest ourselves and our new friend Rapidash.
