Do I need to do this? Okay, here you go:
GBA: AGB-001
GBA SP: AGS-001
GB Micro: OXY-001
DS: NTR-001
DS Lite: USG-001
DSi: TWL-001
Each new hardware receives a new model number acronym. It helps ID various official accessory products like AC adapters and stylus and such, since they vary between systems. (Excepting the GBA SP/DS charger, which are the same functionally, but they still released separate chargers.)
Nintendo is only looking into chips - so far we know they've looked at two different companies.
This new article I linked to isn't just some dude talking, it's straight from the Nintendo president. Motion sensing + highly detailed graphics = confirmed. Highly detailed is without number and a bit ambiguous, but my money is on GameCube quality or higher.
As for the usefulness of motion sensing in a handheld, it's difficult to foresee. When the DS first came out, everybody said "What are you going to do with two screens?".
And I think I've actually said your last bit elsewhere: That Game Freak may have a say in a handheld's design simply because Pokémon is (one of?) the highest selling franchise on Nintendo handhelds.
