Our local Borders is almost famous locally for not having *any* manga whatsoever. Imagine my surprise when I walked in today and saw this display. Not pictured: three animanga- Manaphy, Darkrai, and Giratina.

Yeah, but at least we don't have to make do with that "best of" crap anymore. I'm willing to be as patient as need be if we can get volumes 1-31 translated and published before they quit again.

Well, Vol. 5 of PokeSpe is out. Seeing as how I got the last copy, and it came out 4 days ago, I assume they're selling well.

Living in the UK sucks, since manga is non-existant here. I think I have a few chapters of Special somewhere that I bought as a kid, but that's about it.

I see your HNI, Nona.

Still haven't purchased any beyond the second volume - which I haven't finished.

Viz just announced two more Pokemon Adventures volumes.
>Vol. 9 on Oct. 5 2010
>Vol. 10 on Dec. 7 2010 (First time US gets to see Satoshi Yamamoto's artwork.)

This means that they are willing to complete the Gold/Silver/Crystal arcs, and perhaps Ruby/Sapphire (as GSC has 1 chapter in Vol. 15, the start of RS).

Here's hoping they continue all the way to the end.

Well a sever lack in the "cash to blow" department has left me unable to buy much new, but I was able to use the leftover Borders cash I had from Christmas and got myself volumes 1-3. I'm noticing a few things as I re-read them, the biggest of which is that Viz Kids is publishing it in the original right-to-left format unlike Chuang-Yi, which is a great thing in my book.

Pic sorta related. Apparently Green studied abroad before coming back to train in Kanto. Could this become important later? Y/N

Yep, that's covered in the GSC arc. I'll not spoil it for you.

Man these guys plan ahead.

That almost seems intentionally confusing for people who're reading DP Adventure. First off, Pokémon SPECIAL gets called Pokémon ADVENTURES, then they make a completely unrelated manga and market it as Diamond and Pearl ADVENTURES, and now we've got what's really a later arc of SPECIAL called Adventures Platinum which, because of the word PLATINUM, might make readers of DP Adventure to believe it's a sequel to their own spin-off series and.... ARGH! MY MIND IS FULL OF FUCK!!

I understand it. DPA has been in it's "platinum" arc for a while now, and the final volume is the next to be released (November 2nd). This will make sure that DPA will be far enough out of the way so there is little confusion.

Pokemon Adventures: Platinum still has the same iconic logo, author, and (soon to be) artist. Also, starting with Volume 8, Pokemon Adventures will be getting a small logo saying [Gold & Silver] similar to the one being used for Pokemon Adventures: Platinum.

As of today, the 8th volume of Pokemon Adventures is on sale! Instead of using a stock photo, have a live photo of my copy. This is really only to show the [GOLD & SILVER] logo that is absent in any sizable image I could find on the internet.

Some things to note:

Gold's Pokemon are nicknamed, but are different from what we've seen before (As this is Viz's first run of GSC). Instead of ending their names with "-taro" the nicknames have "-bo" at the end:

Aibo
Exbo
Sunbo
Polibo

... and so on. Those are all of the nicknames as of Volume 8, but I'm sure the rest wouldn't be hard to guess at.

Another thing is that Viz actually named Youngster Joey correctly. In the Chuang-Yi edition, he was named Grant.
