In the original print run of the Japanese D/P, you can obtain Darkrai (or Shaymin) via a certain glitch. This was fixed in later versions, and def. not present in the english versions.

I've been looking for an original D/P for a long time, but it's really difficult to find it because a lot of people don't know when the copy they're selling was printed.

Anyone happen to have it (or know a person)? Wanna sell it? If not, tell us if you've done the glitch. Maybe you'd be willing to trade one?
I bet there are original versions of the ROM that I could put on my flashcart, but I'm really only interested in using legit carts.

So, what you're saying is, if I took a flashcard and, with a ROM pulled from an actual game cart, used PokéSAV to make a pokémon that was actually legitimate right down to the hidden hex values being spotless...

Basically, I did what RNG manipulation and hard work could do by hand, just cutting out the middle-man because I'm too busy with classes and stuff to actually do it the long way...

And that things that check for hacked pokémon say it's legitimate...

Despite all that, you'd still say that it's fake? And just because a pokémon that I spent hours and hours breeding was bred on a flashcart, it's fake too?

Your logic... I don't particularly see it.

It's easy to construct an argument about the point at which a bunch of grains of sand constitutes a pile of sand. The *easiest* thing to go by is the definition Nintendo uses, which is (not coincidentially) the definition that ensures you are using its products - if you only used legit hardware to do it, it's kosher - but it's equally valid to say on one end "no glitches or RNG abuse, play as intended" or on the other "playing on a flashcart is still playing". Personally, I prefer to play on a flashcart because I once lost a cart with some Pokémon I had an emotional attachment to and now *will never get back*; being able to back up my save ensures that that can't happen again. But that doesn't invalidate the viewpoint that says a Pokémon isn't real unless it was generated on a "real" cartridge, or, on the other hand, the idea that bit-identical Pokémon is identically "legit". In the end, I think it comes down to what you're trying to get out of the game when you play it, and what makes the Pokémon "real" for whatever that purpose may be.

Essentially this is what I've been saying all along. In the end the definition of what is or isn't illegitimate is up to each person's opinion on a handful of issues. So long as nobody's getting bigoted about anything, I'm okay with whatever you feel. I can live with people thinking my caught-normally-on-a-ROM monsters or bit-perfect hacks are illegitimate just as long as they don't:
-Berate me for it
or
-Think they are any better if they use alternative "shortcuts" like GTS cloning or RNG abuse.

Just read this on another forum:
"Deoxys is supposed to be mis€™sing҉̵̞̟̠̖̗̘̙ ҉̵̞̟̠̖̗̘̙ ҉̵̞̟̠̖̗̘̙҉̵̞. There's a placeholder Pokémon in Generation 3 (like mis€™sing҉̵̞̟̠̖̗̘̙ ҉̵̞̟̠̖̗̘̙ ҉̵̞̟̠̖̗̘̙҉̵̞. was) that was designed to have the same stats as Deoxys."
>> No. 233
>>232
I don't even know what to say to this.
>> No. 234
That doesn't mean anything. They needed a placeholder, and there's no point in thinking up stats for a pokemon nobody is going to see, so they just copied and pasted the stats from another pokemon. Deoxys is the last pokemon in that generation; it's not an outrageous choice.

And placeholder from Gen X != placeholder from Gen Y.

Something I found and wanted to put somewhere:

"I swear by the fact that mashing buttons while confused or your opponent is confused make them hurt themselves like 90% of the time."

Bike through the middle building in either route 16 or 18 and your character will completely stop half way for a second.

Simply keep evading. This should make things faster if you're trying to optimize the time in getting surfing/flying Pikachus. So this isn't just drivel, I'll explain.

Assume you only ever decide to evade in Pokewalker battles for these scenarios.
Now, it's very unlikely, but it is possible that your opponent would ever choose to evade too. If this happened, as small of a chance it is, it would cause a causality loop. Thankfully, either Gamefreak knew this and programed accordingly, or at least it will never actually happen.
So an alternative is to attack, right? Well if that were true your opponent would miss and you'd get an attack of opportunity. Ever time. You Would Never Get Hit Ever Again. This cannot happen either.
So the only option is that, if faced with enough 'stare downs' your opponent would run, no matter what. I decided to test this theory and I conclude that yes, after 3 or 4 CONSECUTIVE stare downs, the Pokemon always fled.

That's nice and all but is that rule 34 on a goddamned pokewalker or am I on acid again?

both, probably.

I like to just chuck a Pokeball. They run if it misses (usually does at full health) and if they don't, just get rid of the Pokemon.

Do you guys know of any way to get Pokemon out of Ranch without the game that put them there?

I have an R4, and am willing to do any software hack to my Wii.

Thanks.

Although your analogy is wrong, I understand your point.

I just noticed that the EZ5 kernal had a major update, so I'm going to use it and see if it works with Wii Connectivity yet or not.
>> No. 223
Updated firmware to v15 and kernal to v2.0 RC16.

Game used: PBR:US
Control: Pokémon Soul Silver US original cartridge. DS detects and connects to Wii. PBR interface loads.

Pokémon Pearl: Detects Wii. Communications launch fails and DS hangs.
Pokémon Platinum: Detects and connects to Wii. However, DS' PBR interface launch fails and the DS hangs on a screen wipe.
Pokemon SS(J): Fails to detect wii. However, I am unsure if this is a property of regions or not.

I'll test it with My Pokémon Ranch, but I expect the same results. Improvements made: detects and connects to Wii. Improvements needed: initialization of downloaded software from Wii.

Platinum recognizes and connects to My Pokemon Ranch. Hangs just before Diamond and Pearl only message.

Glitchcity's Biglist has at least one error in it, mixed up the values of Kingler and Gloom (BA and 8A). I'm not going to go through every value of every offset, but I always do my own research before trusting the Biglist.

If anyone's in contact with the admin(s) of that, tell them to get their shit together, from me.

First, if you need help:
http://151chan.org/truck/res/198.html#i198
It's good to know this too, You'll be running a lot:
http://151chan.org/truck/res/200.html#i200
As a side note, it's a BAD IDEA to rack up your steps BEFORE you drop a pokemon into the walker, if you intend to use your own. You will lose all watts. More on that in a bit.
Of course, you'll need Yellow Forest unlocked. Until May 3rd, there is a Wireless event to get it. Simply connect your DS to a wireless connection and choose 'Mystery Gift'. After you receive the route from the man in green from any mart or dept store, DON'T FORGET TO SAVE!!! It won't do it automatically!
Now, you won't be getting flying pikachus unless you have 10,000 steps. A lot, I know, but according to Bulbapedia, if you have a pokemon with an advantageous type, that number is reduced by 25% That makes it a mere 7,500 steps. (Or whopping 7,500 depending on your perspective.) In this case, Electric has an advantage, so simply drop one into your walker or wait for a Pikachu to join you. Given that 20 steps equal a watt, that means if you go the long way with 10k steps and lose all your watts by dropping a poke into your walker AFTER you did your steps, than you've just lost 500 Watts! Congratulations! Now do it all over again. (See? I told you I'd get back to that, I didn't forget :P)

Now, for the 'meat' of the quide. All that reading was just the set-up. At this point, you should have an Electric Pokemon, probably Pikachu, and 375 Watts with 7,500 steps, or a non-advantageous type poke with 500 watts and 10k steps.
Now, to the Radar! Find a pokemon. If IT WAS JUST ONE ! OR A SECOND ! BUT NOT !! OR !!!, just evade untll it flees. This pokemon will only be a class C (crap) or a Class B(Not Crap, but not worth risking either.) You're far more likely to run into !!s than !!!s, so it might be a good idea to catch 3 of them. (!!s, I mean). Those have a chance of either being class B (cool!) OR Class A (Awesome!) Class A have either Surf

I thought Hax would be the best place to put this, but if I'm wrong, sue me or move it please.
We all know the various ways to cheat your Pokewalker. Tie it to your pet, put it on an appliance, spank your monkey...
But I have found a simple and easy way to get your walker to accumulate steps.

I have decided to stupid-proof this post, because sadly, there are many stupid people on the internet.

1) Have a Pokewalker. Got one? Okay, good.
2) Hold the Pokewalker so that your middle finger is at the top, your thumb is somewhat off-center of the bottom on either side. (Lefty's and Righty's both can do this! Hooray!)
3) Place your ring and index fingers on the top half of the walker just above the black line. Three fingers on the red part, one on the white.
4)Now simply, move your hand away from you and than towards you. (If you look like someone who finds there own hand moving interesting, than you are weird, but you got it.)

Simply do this at a comfortable pace while you do the normal things in life, and you can easily get a megawatt of power a day or more. (That's 1 million watts for the aforementioned idiots.)

Pic is Blue. He's so awesome, he had a Pokewalker years before it was invented! Look!
