Or "Dialga vs Palkia vs Darkrai" for our amigos in the far east.

This is the best Pokémon movie ever. If you enjoy the series at all and have not seen it, you should go and see it.

What other movies are good? From what I know:
Pokémon the First Movie: Epic
Pokémon the Movie 2000: Even more Epic
The Third one: Lame
Pokémon 4ever: Good, right?
Pokémon Heroes: Is this any good? I want to see it.
JJirachi: ???
Destiny Deoxys: Bad
Lucario and the Mystery of Mew: Boring
Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea: ???
Rise of Darkrai: The best
Giratina and the Sky Warrior: Salright

No, really everybody - do not watch anything beyond Revelation Lugia, and don't even think about watching the current television perversion of "Pokémon".

Why? If it weren't for nostalgia, I'd probably say that the newer series is even better than the original. Ash actually fights all the gym leaders instead of getting badges out of pity, and I think the current series does a great job at translating fights in the games. What do you think this "perversion" is?

OMG U guize!
They're actually referencing the mechanics and playing by the rules of Pokemon!
The series is dead!

Seriously. Smoke a dick, and go watch the Rotom episode somewhere online. The series is still awesome, you're just saying everything starting at Johto is crap just to look cool.

-Here's a hint: If you're here, there's a good chance you're not cool.

You have it backwards, dear.
Anyone who is here is amazing. Their coolness is off the charts, and they're part of a lovely tight-knit community.

Pokemon Heroes was actually really good. Second only to the first IMO.

Jirachi and Pokemon Ranger were both very boring.

Pokemon 4ever was decent until the tweest ending, then it was awesome.

Haven't seen the last two yet, but I'll be sure to give them a try now.

i was excited to see Heroes for a while and ended up really bored. Brock and Misty play almost no role, and I was kind of bored throughout the whole thing. Pretty disappointing.

We're all cool here, I love the Johto and Sinnoh series.
Why would I say I didn't to look cool? That makes no sense. I love my nostalgia trips from Johto and Kanto.

We're an awesome community and you're ruining the atmosphere. Go away.

First: Legendary
2000: Pretty damn good
Third: Good
Fourth: Good
Heroes: Meh
Jirachi: Pretty bad
Deoxys: Not that good
Lucario: Not bad
Ranger: Pretty bad
Movie 10: Fucking awesome
Movie 11: Stopped watching half way through out of boredom, gonna watch the rest of it soon

11 wasn't bad, in my opinion. Not too exciting, but Shaymin is just enough of a douche to make it interesting.

And I don't know how you could have liked 3. It bored the crap out of me.

I don't like 3 either.

Because they want to be the HxC "OHMAHGAD IM SO HXC COS I ONLY LIEK GEN 1 AND 2 LOLOLOLOL ANYFINK AFTER IS STUPID BLOBS OF NOFFING LULZ AMIRITE!?" basically, I have friends like that, and it annoys me, because they're only like that so they don't seem like then nerds or anything :/

That's not what I was getting at, but you do make a good point. I know what you're saying - that phenom is annoying.
I don't have friends like that. My one Pokémon friend I see regularly likes all gens. Doesn't seem to care about the movies as much, but I know he doesn't say "OMG GEN !+2 ONLY". But he still expresses a preference for them, as do I. We feel the franchise has been on a decline since the beginning of R/S. I think you feel this way too, Morty, but I can't be too sure.

That's not to say D/P/P isn't fun - I enjoy and play them.
Never finished R/S

There. There's my mini 'generation preference' shpiel, in a thread about movies.

All I'm going to say is that I agree with you that the series declined with R/S, but that Gen 4 revitalized the series.

Also- my friends used to be all "only 151 Pokémon!" Then I got them to play Pearl :P
>> No. 146
I only think Gen 4 is stupid because I don't have a DS. If I grabbed an emulator and a ROM, I'd probably enjoy it.

Dude, do yourself a favor. They really improved the gameplay with the touchscreen, plus ironed out most of the other kinks. And most of the new Pokémon have a lot of character. My current team is almost all 1st and 4th gen, plus a Skarmory

The first and second(2000) were the best. Third movie wasn't very enjoyable. 4ever was good;it definitely was a comeback for the Entei one. Pokemon Heroes was Good too.

as far as the newer ones, Darkrai I kind of liked but everything else Doesn't compare to the first 2. Oh Yeah! I forgot the Giritina one, it was OK.

My opinion on these '> ...also I agree with gnobe, 1st movie is Legendary
>> No. 159
I've only seen the first and second movies.

Of those, I like Pokemon 2000 over Pokemon the first movie.
>> No. 174
First was only pretty good in my opinion. The "no fighting" spiel was a bit of a turn-off for me in an anime revolving around legalized cockfighting. Well, that's what my ten year old mind thought back then, so the above's validity is dubious.

I liked the second even more. OH SHIT NEW LEGENDARY POKEMON! NOT PIKABLU, TOGEPI, OR THAT WHEEL ELEPHANT POGGEYMAN, IT'S A DAMN LEGENDARY!

Third I found interesting. The Unown were fascinating, but then came the let down when I finally caught one.

Fourth was okay. Seeing young Oak and a competent Rocket were pluses, but that's about it.

Fifth was so-so. Latias and the interesting setting kept me in.

Sixth was kinda heartwarming. Well, as far as the Pokemon anime can go.

Seventh was mediocre. Two Deoxys, Rayquaza is pissed, and a ton of cutesy machine overlords go mad.

Eighth was epic. Sir Aaron, Lucario, and all that good stuff that seemed like a slightly deeper plot. This was also at a time where most thought Lucario was a legendary, so a steel/fighting one was absolutely groundbreaking.

Ninth felt like the sixth, so my interest was only mildly held. Boring.

Tenth was good. Yeah, everyone and their dog called Darkrai being misunderstood and reviving, but a three way clash of the gods? You can't hate that even if you tried.

Eleventh was back to okay. Shaymin the ungrateful hedgehog was an annoyance. The good thing about this was reference to the previous film. Continuity? In my Pokemon anime? Yes!

Twelfth will hopefully be good. God and His avatar selves of space, time, and death all in one. Complete the trilogy.

You own it?
I totally have a file of it, subbed. Gotta say, I'm a total fag desu, and I prefer it in Japanese. Lacks the dumb pop music from the english incarnation.
Plus it has The Birth of Mewtwo included, as it originally was. Pretty sure.
Now I need to watch it.

Mewtwo: This movie was pretty good for the fights, and definitely a step up in animation from the TV show, but I didn't really like the plot.
Lugia: What a wonderful movie. The plot is amazing, the special effects are good, everything is top notch in this movie!
Entei: I don't remember too much of this one.
Celebi: Never really watched it.
Lati@s: This is my favorite pokemon movie. OP if you have the time, check it out. Fantastic movie. Also the japanese ending theme is terrific. best song in the series.

Jirachi: Never seen it.
Deoxys: Boring. First anime appearance of Metagross is noteworthy, but other than that it never grasped me.
Lucario: Gave up 10 minutes in.
Manaphy: Never seen.
Darkrai: 2nd favorite movie in the series. This movie was absolutely amazing. I actually remember feeling moved at certain scenes. I need to torrent this one again.
Giratina: This one was really good too. I like the continuity between movie 10 and 11. I can't WAIT to see the 12th one to wrap up the little trilogy.

They totally do. The Lucario movie is worth it just for the sound Regirock makes.

I did watch Latios and Latias and ended up being disappointed- I think this was due to expectations. Luckily I was high so I can watch it again like new, but with lower expecations. What I DID like about it, however, was the music. Some of the best. It just really lacked Misty and Brock.

I dunno, maybe I'm just weird but I really don't agree with most of the opinions here. I really liked 3 because it was the first movie where they didn't force Ash into a "LOL GO SAVE THE WORLD ONLY YOU CAN BECAUSE YOUR THE PROTAGONIST" role. Which is also a big part of my liking movie 5 as well- that and I'm a fag for the Eon twins.

Movie 1 was pretty good, but when you compare the original to the dub, I actually like the dub BETTER here (gasp!) because of the original score they had orchestrated for the movie. The script might have been switched up by 4kids, but the orchestral music throughout was something that the original was painfully missing. Favotire quote: the "my bike" line. You know what I'm talking about... XD

Movie 2... I didn't like that much. Now don't get me wrong, Lawrence III looked like a pretty cool guy, he fucks up the balance of nature for the sake of "collecting" Lugia, but... Firstly there was the completely non-sequitur inclusion of the ancient Mew card, which was just 4kids whoring out the TCG in the middle of the movie. On top of that, the whole movie has som many logical holes and convenient coincidences that just piled one on top of the next... I could go on, but most of my gripes with the movie are shared by Dragonfree, who has done a better job than I could here with explaining some of that. Favorite quote: Tracey's pseudo-science (and coincidentally completely wrong) explanation of "FIRE PLUS LIGHTNING PLUS WATER EQUALS BOMB!!!1ELEVEN!" when they were on the airship.

Movie 3. I can't say anything particularly spectacular about the movie, but I was intrigued by Mollie as a character, and liked that Ash actually FIT IN with the story this time rather than being thrown into a plot that somehow involved world destruction and legendary pokémon. I guess my biggest gripe here was (among a few) the fact that Team Rocket had almost no interaction with the main characters at all.

Movie 4 was a mix for me; I liked the Marauder because he was a legitimately evil and competent and scary villain for a change, and there was the whole time-travelling Sammy thing, which actually raises a little plot hole if you think about it (his sketchbook- it couldn't have been with the old lady to give to him after he took it with him at the end) but that was a surprisingly small amount of discontinuity for a time-travel scenario. Heck, look at Back to the Future: that trilogy was basically a three-movie, 337-minute plot hole on wheels in the exact size and shape of a DeLorean... Anyways, 4ever was pretty good for that, but the simgle-mindedness and mayopic nature of the Marauder's... marauding... left me cold after only a few minutes, and the "SURPRISE REVIVAL SCENE!" at the end kinda made the entire emational buildup of the movie just fall through for me. Not one of my favorites overall, but certainly not bad on my list.

Fifth movie. Tied for top spot on my list, and I know that I'm being almost completely irrational about it, simply because I love the Eon twins. That aside, I kinda liked that TR had little impact here, and the fact that Ash was *included* in the plot, but had almost NOTHING to do with the outcome. Perhaps my biggest complaints with this movie are actually about dub edits: the dub ditched the original backstory behind Latios and Latias and replaced it with one that made absolutely no sense when you apply a liberal amount of logic to it (inb4 IT"S AN ANIME, CHECK YOUR LOGIC AT THE DOOR) and the tratement of Annie and Oakley. Spies for Giovanni? Really? What the hell? It doesn't match their characters or actions at all, both of which fit with the image of a pair of expert thieves who work alone and for themselves only. But really, this was the first pokémon movie to make me bawl; the first one made me tear up a bit, but this one... I still can't sit through the ending dry-eyed to this day. Top spot for me, no matter what anybody may say.

Six. Jirachi, right? I was kinda "meh" over this one. I thought it was cool that Max got a main role, but Jirachi was just... I can't explain it, but I didn't like the thing's personality. I *did* however like the wild pokémon of Fiorina actively DOING something to help though, such as Absol and Flygon. The whole thing with Butler was pretty cool, except that I can't help but feel like he never really decided if he was a legitimate villain or just a misguided, obsessed jerk. And why would he have gone to Team Magma to begin with? Still, for everything else in the movie, Chiisaki Mono (Make a Wish) makes me break down every time I hear it. I'd put this movie just below 4ever on my list.

Next one was Destiny Deoxys. First time around I really didn't like this movie, and most of my complaints about it were (I think) fairly legit. Rayquaza attacking Deoxys was completely unneccesary, as was their showdows happening in the city. The meteorite containing the second Deoxys was for some reason held in a very well sealed area, which made me wonder about the real intentions of the scientists involved. I pretty much knew what was gonna happen with Tory from the moment I saw the Walrein stampede around him. Still, despite that, I enjoy the movie now, as those seem kinda minor overall, and Rayquaza attacking Deoxys could just be that he was really fucking pissed and wanted something to blast the shit out of. Rafe looked like a cool character and I wish we could have seen a little more of him; I kinda liked the sickeningly cute Plusle and Minun, and I still like the song they used (This Side of Paradise) in the movie.

I would go on with the rest, but now I'm fucking bored of overanalyzing, so maybe later. Oh, and pic related: it's the files that account for about 56 gigs of my hard drive. Fun times.
