Anyone else planning on getting it?
Who are you looking forward to using?

I was able to try out Karas and Soki, thanks to a con who had the Japanese TvC set up. I think I'll be using Karas and Soki a lot. I may also be using Viewtiful Joe. Megaman was really slow/unique controls and pretty much everyone is going to use him.
But really, I'm looking forward to trying out all of the different characters.

I went and preordered my copy today (I procrastinated... a lot).
Turns out they got their shipment today. Still have to wait for the game itself (releases Tuesday, Jan. 26), but in that shipment they also had the pre-order bonus - the packs of 8 random trading cards (out of 13 possible). They had 4 packs total. "Supplies are extremely limited!" indeed, Capcom!
I didn't get 1 of 100 signed by Producer Ryota Niitsuma.

Apparently TvC's release coincides with Mass Effect. If I go to that midnight launch, the dude's letting me get TvC then. If no one else comes for TvC, I get the other 3 packs. Sweet.

I can't seem to find a whole lot of info on the game, but it sounds awesome; any game that lets Roll take the spotlight rather then her brother is awright by me. XD

I'll probably be picking this up since the only good fighting games I have on my Wii are homebrew/virtual console. I plan on using either Chun-Li and Viewtiful Joe, but I'll be trying out all of the characters. Also, I love that Capcom included Yami from Okami as the main antagonist.

The wiki said that Yami was in the Japanese version ... I hope it's the same in the US one. They did remove a playable character for the US release, but added some as well

I want to learn as much as I can before release so I'm somewhat prepared. Specifically general controls. I understand Guilty Gear, but I have no clue about Capcom games - I've never gotten into them.

Well I haven't really investigated into which brands I would want to purchase from, so thanks for saving me the trouble. I've been wanting a wii arcade board for a while now, and this game is enough reason to purchase one of good quality.

That one's kind of a piece of junk, made by MadCatz. It's also way overpriced - the base stick (a plain, sticker-less one) is less money, and low quality.
I have this one, made by Hori. Got it for Guilty Gear. If you can, and you care about quality, get the Hori one. It's called 'Fighting Stick Wii'.
If you like the pretty sticker on the TvC one, go right ahead and get that one.

But even at that, the Hori stick could still be modified to be even better.

Ninja'd during my 'editing' ^^;
Yeah, with Wii sticks, you're not going to get top of the line for a pre-made quality stick, having to spend hundreds like on other consoles. But the Hori one is still the best avilable for Wii. Should be around 50, I think I got mine for 20/30 because of ebay awesomeness.

So basically it's a fighting game, in the same vein as the MvC series and such? Where can I find more- Google fails me..?

I have no idea. I haven't looked into it enough. Wikipedia has some info, but nothing in-depth.

I guess it's a bit different than other VS Capcom games.

If you didn't know, there's a pair system. You pick two characters for your match, and you can switch whenever you want. There are even attacks that you do with your second character.
Yeah. Wiki should tell you a bunch.
I guess the controls are also a bit different from past VS Capcom games.

I've learned that Yatterman characters are awesome - to me, at least. They're funny. You should look into that series.

I'd completely forgotten about Shoryuken! I haven't investigated their forum yet, but I imagine it's, at the very least, the starting point of any English speaking TvC talk and info:
http://www.shoryuken.com/forumdisplay.php?f=281

I bet it's the only one, though. Aside from minor discussions on other boards like, say, Smashboards.

Also, the obvious: http://tatsunoko.vscapcom.com/index.html
Seems like it might be of some use.

Hooray, multiposting.

So after 9 hours of playing this game straight, there are A LOT of differences from the MvC series compared to this.

- There are no separate buttons for Punches and Kicks anymore, it's just Light, Medium and Heavy. This is hard to get used to if you're an avid MvC player (like my brother).
- If you use your assist or switch in, it takes a few seconds before you can use your assist or switch again. I actually like this concept.
- Everyone has a double jump, except for Chun-Li, which still retains her traditional triple jump. I'm not sure who else has a triple jump though.
- Each character has an ultimate move that uses up 3 Hyper Bars.
- You can go into Baroque mode, which is trying to pull off as many combos as you can before you end since you're doing extra damage and your combos seem to chain better. It uses up a Hyper Bar and how much red health you have left.
- You can cancel a combo, but it uses up a Hyper Bar.
- Air combos are slightly different, since in MvC, you normally just jump up do your thing after you launch them, but this one requires a lot more timing and accuracy.

Yeah - multiposting. I deleted and edited/reposted my last message a lot because I was excited too.

Tuesday morning (~1AM) until later in the morning, I pretty much played TvC all day. In-game clock says something like 6 or 7 hours now. A portion of Tuesday TvC time was spent looking at online videos / reading forums related to TvC. I still don't know what 1 with a circle around it means (in Command List), and also don't know what the "X" with dots inside the corners means. I'm still not even sure how exactly you're supposed to 'charge', but I am able to do those attacks.
I didn't play / don't care about MvC, so I'm totally cool with TvC being a whole new experience.

Yami though ... so difficult. You really have to improve yourself + memorise patterns to be able to beat it in one go. It took me SEVERAL tries on Yami to finish Arcade mode ... just once! I had a little trouble with a few regular character pairs, though, too.
I guess it's worth noting that I changed the difficulty in 'Options' to one star above default.

So far, my main dudes are:
Yatterman-1, Doronjo, Karas, Jun the Swan [Heck yeah Zippie]

I'm looking forward to learning other characters, but I think I want to really focus on Yatterman-1 and Karas until I've memorised them in and out, and have come up with useful strategies. I feel like it would be best to stick with a few and form a nice foundation to work off of.
Doronjo has a lot of potential, too - she helps when Karas doesn't do the trick.

I can't wait to unlock the other characters [YATTERMAN-2!], but that will require great improvement on my part, to be able to play through Arcade without dying a million times.

Playing online against people for like an hour ... I was unable to win. Even against similar-level Beginner players. There appear to be TONS of people online who own and played the Japanese version since it came out. You can already tell who the Fox/Marth's are of this game. A lot of people use: RYU, Tekkaman, Zero, Roll, Batsu.

Still learning, very much. I have no idea how to do any kind of Air Combo, and that seems like a huge part of high level play. I also haven't memorised any of the other pan-character labeled attacks - only the Hypers (easy). Like Baroque or Advancing Guard - all these new things are a blur, but I'll get it down eventually. Mostly I've been trying to memorise my characters' special attacks - the ones listed in Command List in Training mode.

Yay multiposting.
Wanted to ask: What controllers are yous using?
I assume you're using a Classic, Zip?

I have a stick, for Guilty Gear. I have familiarised myself with stickery on TvC, but I might prefer the Classic Controller because it feels like I can do certain actions faster and better because I have the option of either analog stick or D-pad. Focus is on the analog stick, but for dashes and other "button-push"-quick needed actions: d-pad.

I have yet to even try my SNES controller ... or GCN/Wiimote/Wiimote+Nunchuk for that matter.
Originally I tried TvC at a con at the end of October, and all they had was GameCube controllers.
