I didn't make Platinum status this year, so I have to settle for a poster. At any rate, I rather enjoy that bitchin' Mario cap I got last year so I'm not too broken up about it...

Is this some thing where you buy their shit and they give you stuff for it? Because I have one of those for Square Enix right now, and like the top prize is an iPod touch. I don't buy that much though...

Whenever you buy Nintendo games/systems (even 3rd party games) there's a registration code on one of the inserts in the case. Register that online with Nintendo to get points on their "club nintendo" website. You can use these points to buy different prizes. If you get a certain amount of points in a single year, you'll get either gold or platinum status and get free stuff like that statue for platinum and a next-year's calendar with exclusive art for gold status. Last year, like I said, was a very high-quality Mario cap for platinum members. I need to remember to buy some overalls before Halloween this year...

Pic related, it's a prize I've bought with my points before. Saving up for the navy blue game-folio next

Yeah, I don't think there's too many people who are terribly upset over not reaching Platinum status this year. Those buttons... Meh.

I rather get a cheap, plastic statue of a recoloured controller or a shirt or something. But these buttons...? Ugh.

Well, I felt gipped, I hope next year would be better. :S

Complaining about free stuff. Also, the packaging is really neat.

It's not exactly free since we have to buy the games in order to get the code. Hell, even if we buy them used, there's a chance that the code itself is used.

If you're buying codes to get games, you're not doing it right.

It's supposed to be a reward for loyal customers as a "thank you" for buying so much of their product. Instead this year it feels more like they found a way to embody, package, and deliver a dick-slap from Fils-Aime to each and every person who went to the trouble of qualifying for Platinum status this year.

Just wondering, how much do you actually have to buy to get platinum status?
>> No. 1822
>>1821
It depends. The registration itself is only about 10 points, but you'll also get surveys about the game or just in general to earn coins as well. High-profile titles tend to get you more because they will also have a bonus "intend to buy" survey you can opt in to ahead of time as well as usually having a handful of extra surveys now and again on top of that.
